Renata Prellwitz, CMP
Director Of Sales
Professional BackgroundNot many people start their careers in the same field they choose in college, but I’ve been fortunate to be one of the few who found my passion early—hospitality. From my first experience working at a small resort in North Dakota, I knew I was meant to be in this industry. This passion led me to pursue a degree in Hotel Management & Sales and Marketing, setting the foundation for a rewarding career. One of the highlights of my journey was working at Walt Disney World, where I gained invaluable experience in creating exceptional and memorable guest experiences. Leading a top-performing sales team and organizing a variety of events year after year has been both professionally fulfilling and personally enjoyable. For over 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of growing alongside Chula Vista Resort. People often ask how someone can stay at one place for so long, and the answer lies in Chula Vista's remarkable evolution. From its early days to becoming a prominent resort and conference center, it has allowed me to grow with the property. Along the way, I earned the coveted Certificate Meeting Professional (CMP) designation, and I’ve cherished my involvement with organizations like Meeting Professionals International and the Wisconsin Society of Association Executives. In this ever-evolving industry, I believe it’s essential to stay relevant, and I’m committed to continuously honing my expertise.
Specialties & Areas Of ExpertiseIn addition to driving sales for the resort and pushing to new levels of success, I take great pride in being the go-to resource for staff. I am the person they trust to provide answers and share valuable insights, thanks to my in-depth knowledge of the resort. My expertise lies in developing creative solutions to meet the unique needs of each group. Over time, I’ve developed a strong ability to assist staff across all areas of the property, all while effectively juggling multiple projects and responsibilities.
Personal TouchOne of the most unexpected and miraculous experiences of my life was driving our daughter to horse shows, towing a 1,000-pound horse in a trailer—requiring the kind of courage and prayers for safe travels that even the Lion from the Wizard of Oz would understand! While that chapter has closed, I’m still known for never staying home and putting countless miles on my car each year, exploring new and exciting places.
Favorite Part About Working At Chula Vista ResortOne of my favorite aspects of working at Chula Vista is being family owned there is a strong sense we’re all in this together. There’s minimal red tape —if a group wants to light a bonfire near the towering 100-foot pine trees, I can simply ask. There is an understanding of the balance between work and family life along with a level of trust your work will be done and you a valued, integral part of the company.
